LIGHTEN UP

We had a chance to meet the folks from üm-nitza at the SEMA Show and they told us about a new Angel Eye package that it has for E36 and E46 BMWs. After the show, we called üm-nitza to see if it had any cool tech info about this swap that we could share with HCI readers. Sure enough, a complete how-to disc arrived at Buckaroo headquarters within a few days.

The Angel Eye installation is pretty simple and if installed by a professional, it can be completed in less than an hour. The package comes with all the necessary hardware, including four halos (two for the high beams and two for the low beams), wiring harness, two control boxes and detailed instructions. The install is self-explanatory, but take your time and make sure everything is done correctly. It is very important that when you are taking the headlight assembly apart to be gentle with all of the clips. You do not want to break any of these pieces!

Also, when installing the new halos, make sure not to touch them. Like HID bulbs, oil and dirt from your fingers can cause serious damage to the halos. After clipping on the halos to the headlight surroundings and connecting them to the control boxes, check that all four units work correctly. Always test your work before putting the pieces back together, which will save you a lot of time and headaches in the long run. Once you have checked that all four halos work correctly, then you can reassemble the headlights.

After fastening the last clear corner light, turn on the headlights, take a step back and enjoy the new look of your E46 M3. Nothing too wild or crazy here—just another cool product on a very cool car.
