Automotive and racing icon, Ken Block killed in snowmobile accident
The automotive and racing world was rocked by the sudden passing of racing phenom, internet sensation, and master of all-things automotive Tom-foolery, Ken Block. On January 2nd, Hoonigan, Block’s automotive lifestyle and clothing brand, reported that Block was riding snowmobiles at his Utah ranch, where a single snowmobile incident on a steep incline claimed the life of the 55 year old.
Block was a visionary within the automotive wing of the action sports world. He pioneered the unique style of driving, that seamlessly blended elements of rally, rally-cross, and drifting. The Gymkhana series of YouTube videos highlighting his incredible talent behind the wheels. Block and Hoonigan garnered millions of YouTube views, igniting a subculture withing the automotive world that continues to grow.
Block built his automotive empire in the action sports world with DC Shoes. The sale of this company allowed Block to explore other interests, which brought the icon to to the world of rally racing. It was here that Block would develop the discipline that would become known across the globe as Gymkhana.
Block’s wild vehicles and incredible talent on and off the track will be missed. Ken Block is survived by his wife Lucy and three daughters.
